HUDDERSFIELD-VERTICAL FARMING TOWN

Base on the urban study, most of people activity in Huddersfield town is restrained to be within the ring road and with the town full of listed building and with the easy access to Manchester and Leeds, the town itself could not compete with those cities economic which causing the town to shrink. Instead of competing with Manchester and Leeds on the retail store and commercial business, this urban proposal is approach to a different direction in which lead the urban agricultural.

With the increasing of global population, it has become increasingly clear in recent decades that the way we live and eat is a major threat to our health and the health of our ecosystems. Climate change causes us to rethink our way of life and integrate agriculture back into our urban fabric. By taking the advantage of Huddersfield town location where it is located in between Leeds and Manchester. Huddersfield could become the food basket for those cities. This development without a doubt could help Hudderfield’s economic as well as preventing it from further shrinking. Furthermore, this urban proposal could help revitalizing Huddersfield town connecting and bring people back to town as well as connecting people to it origin of the town which focus on mills and canal.
Similarly, to our group urban development, my vision for the vertical farming town is to creating a vertical agricultural district that could self-sustaining the whole operation.
